Budget Reconciliation and Social Security

According to the March 13, 2025 Kiplinger Tax Letter, Senate Republicans are using the budget reconciliation process to get the one big beautiful bill passed. 

But, anything directly affecting Social Security cannot be used in this process so getting the President’s campaign promise of no taxation of Social Security benefits will have to be passed in a separate bill through regular order. 

Social Security benefits are not taxed by the State of California.
