Know the Signs of a Stroke
You may have seen in the news that Dr. Sandra Lee, better known as "Dr. Pimple Popper," had a stroke last November at just 55 years old.
She thought she was just tired and stressed from a long day of filming.
She went to bed early and missed the critical treatment window.
She is recovering now, but her story is a good reminder for all of us.
There is a simple way to remember the warning signs of a stroke.
It is called BE-FAST.
Balance means feeling suddenly unsteady.
Eyes means your vision goes blurry or you lose it in one eye.
Face means one side droops.
Arms means one arm feels weak or won't stay up.
Speech means your words come out slurred or you can't find them.
Time means call 911 right now, do not wait.
With a stroke, you have about four hours to get treatment before permanent damage sets in.
The scary part is the early signs can feel like nothing, just a little off, a little tired, maybe some trouble swallowing.
That is exactly what Dr. Lee experienced.
So if something feels weird and you can't explain it, please don't go to bed and hope it goes away.
Call 911.
