Was Your Social Security Number Hacked?
A lawsuit by Cristopher Hofmann of California claims that hackers stole personal information of “billions of individuals.”
This includes Social Security numbers, addresses and the names of siblings and parents.
The breach happened around April 2024 to a company called National Public Data (NPD).
NPD, based in Florida, does background checks for employers, investigators and other businesses.
According to Cliff Steinhauer, director of information and safety at The National Cybersecurity Alliance, “it’s likely that everyone with a Social Security number was impacted.”

That’s why after my new passport was stolen from my mailbox, I FROZE my credit with the three major credit bureaus to help stop the bad guys from stealing my identity and ruining my credit.
Freezing your credit is fairly simple and can be done online or with a phone call to the three major credit bureaus.
It took me about 10 minutes for each company.
