Major Medi-Cal Changes in 2026 Continued...

Big change coming.

Medi-Cal is bringing back the asset limit in 2026.

Right now — in 2024 and 2025 — you can qualify for Medi-Cal with unlimited assets.

That all ends January 1, 2026.

If you reapply next year and have more than $130,000 in countable assets for a single person, you could lose your benefits.

Here’s the good news.

Between now and December 31, 2025, you can transfer assets without penalty and still keep your coverage in 2026.

This is especially important if:

  • You may need long-term care soon.
  • If you have more than $130,000 in countable assets.
  • If your parent(s)s may need care.
  • Or if you have a chronic illness.

Plan now. Don’t wait.
