Your Living Trust as IRA Beneficiary
According to Andy Ives of Ed Slott and Company, LLC, your living trust generally should not be your IRA beneficiary.
There is no tax benefit with having the trust as beneficiary versus naming a person.
It’s easier to settle an IRA if a person(s) is the beneficiary rather than a living trust.
If a family member with little or no trust administration experience is the trustee, there may be issues as trust administration requirements are daunting.
Our office encourages our clients to name people as beneficiaries rather than their living trust.
